I figured that One Punch Man would get dubbed but didn’t think it would head to Toonami so quickly. July 16th is when One Punch will show up. I didn’t like the show at first but it grew on me. Here’s where I dropped my thoughts on One Punch Man. Hopefully I kept it spoiler free enough for you.by
Crunchy dropped the news yesterday that they have a slate of shows they plan to dub. Most are current or just ended so it’s not like they picked some old stuff no one wants. I guess they knew these shows weren’t getting dubbed or dubs would be a while off and picked them up. They will be handling the Blu-ray and DVD releases too.
The show that they picked are a mixed bag. Like Kabaneri is an excellent show but Phantom World was kind of a dud and that was a surprise since Kyoto usually produces strong shows. The art was up to par but the show itself was just not there.
That list of shows is: Berserk (new series), Twin Star Exorcists, Gintama, Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches, Myriad of Colors Phantom World, Free! Iwatobi Swim Club, Big Order, and Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress.by
Sparrow’s Hotel is a short comedy anime that follows Sayuri on her daily adventures as a hotel front desk clerk.
Sayuri isn’t just a clerk though, she is also a bodyguard. According to Sayuri her special features are her breasts and skills of assassination. Both are on display in this show. Along the way there are misadventures with the rest of the hotel staff. Continue readingby
After Rolling Girls I thought that all shows with girls and motorcycles would be hot garbage. Well Bakuon!! is here to try to steer it back in the right direction.
Bakoun!! is about a group of high school girls who became interested in motorcycles. Sakura Hane is a cheery airhead who is always climbing the hill with her bike until one day she meets Onsa Amano who’s riding a motorcycle. Sakura becomes an instant fan and her and Onsa join the motorcycle club at school. The show goes through the girls learning to ride, maintain and enjoy motorcycles. Follow along on their adventures. Custom Maid is about a high school otaku who is “in the closet” about her obsession. The twist is she is from a rich family so she couldn’t show her love of anime/manga and all the culture even if she wanted to. Yuu even keeps her distance from her maids until she ends up being found out by her new maid Masaki. What she doesn’t know is that Masaki is actually one of her favorite doujinshi artists.
Custom Maid was one of the Best New 4-koma manga series of 2015 so someone out there likes it. This is one I’ll keep an eye on. For some reason I always find clueless rich people trying to be normal, to be funny.
Big Order was the first of the Spring 2016 season to end since it was only 10 episodes. At least the action kept moving so it wasn’t a show like Grimgar which seemed like it was going nowhere for the whole season.
The show is about a boy named Eiji who is blamed for the world destruction of the world 10 years earlier. Since Eiji is blamed for everything that has happened, everyone seems to be against him except his sister. Eiji has to try to survive in a world that wants him dead. Along the way he has to fight to stay alive and also keep his sister safe. Continue readingby
Inukami is a show I picked at random from a bunch of harem animes. I wanted something longer than 12 episodes and Inukami clocks in at 25 plus a “movie”. So it definitely fit the bill.
Keita and Youko are paired together through means which are discussed in the show. Keita is a perverted teenage shaman low on cash and Youko is a spirit bound by contract to each other. Keita is a nice change from the usual weak character but he has a lot to learn. Like any shaman and spirit, they have spirits to exorcise to get some cash and upgrade their lifestyle but along the way they have many adventures.
Inukami is one of the rare ones where all the girls get some airtime. Continue readingby
I was not planning to watch this show but one day I was sitting at home and caught up on all my shows for the season so I decided to see what this was about.
Would you think a bear would know about the outside world? Well Machi does. Machi is a young shrine maiden who has lived her whole life in the mountains and knows nothing about the city except that she wants to go to school there and some day be a part of it. For her knowledge of the city, she relies on Natsu, her talking guardian bear who has been with her since she was a baby. Natsu does have some knowledge and can even use technology. Can Machi survive Natsu’s city tests to see if she deserves a chance to go to school in the city? Continue readingby
I’m not even sure how I came across Nanako but started reading and it’s an okay little manga.
The premise seems to be about Kawara and Nanako and the “interesting” positions you find them in. Kawara is a boy who seems like your traditional “nice guy”. But he’s like every other teenager and seems to really like Nanako who is a shapely girl that doesn’t seem to be too bright. Could be wrong but there isn’t much academically with her. Kawara seems to always be trying to look up her skirt or ends up in positions where he can because she’s clumsy at times but then also tomboyish too where she’ll climb up somewhere without thinking about being in a skirt. Furumapura is another manga by Cool Kyoushinsha. (Yes I like his work dammit)
It’s a simple 4 koma about high school girls who meet by chance. Kyou is a loud, overbearing kind of girl who seems to have an Irish accent or probably British since they love the Brits but it seems more Irish to me (at least that’s how the English version I read, made it seem). While Makoto is a quiet girl who uses signs to talk but it’s not with words. These signs are numbered 1-10 as if it was a rating system. Kyou has to figure out what the numbers mean and she pretty much carries the book since Makoto does not talk at all, just uses the signs. Continue readingby
