Ninja Nonsense: The Legend of Shinobu (Ninin ga Shinobuden?, 2×2 = Shinobuden)

Published by:

Ninja Nonsense doesn’t sound like the name of a serious anime does it. Well it’s not, Ninja Nonsense is anything but serious. I saw the name and just had to see what it was about.

The show revolves around a female “ninja” named Shinobu. She is sent on a quest to steal a girl’s panties and comes across Kaede. Shinobu thinks she’s invisible but Kaede watches her as she tries to sneak around. Taking pity on Shinobu, Kaede becomes friends with her or as Shinobu says “more than friends but less than lovers” and she means it, trust me but this is where their adventures begin. Hyouka

Published by:

I found Hyouka while I was looking for more mystery shows. I went in with no expectations so didn’t have any thoughts on it before watching.

One day Hotako was urged by his sister to join the Classic Literature Club to keep it from being dissolved. He was joined by Eru Chitanda who just happened to be in the club room when he went to check on it. Followed by his friend Satoshi and a girl named Mayaka that Satoshi and Hotaro both knew from middle school. The four start solving “mysteries” and when they do, the four of them end up being asked solve certain “mysteries” around the school by other clubs. Continue reading

Ai Mai Mi and Ai Mai Mi: Mousou Catastrophe

Published by:

Ai Mai Mii is another short anime where each episode is only a few minutes. Like some of the others like Plastic Nee San and Chitose Get You, it’s school based.

Ai, Mai and Mii end up in some weird situations including some that include their senpai Ponoka. There’s aliens, Mi ends up eating cat food,  teleportation, somehow two of them walk from Japan to New Jersey and all types of crazy things going on when they aren’t drawing manga. Continue reading

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Gaiden Nekogoroshi-hen (The Cat Killing Chapter)

Published by:

Before you run away in horror, there are no cats getting killed. You know the old saying “curiosity killed the cat”? It’s about killing curiosity not cats. The name of it is probably why this episode never came to the US.

This has the main characters playing cards as usual but the penalty game gets taken up a notch. instead of Keiichi wearing a girlie costume, EVERYONE is wearing something because they all lost in some form. As they parade through town they come to a fork in the road and take the path to an abandoned town. The ones who lived in Hinamizawa start telling stories that they knew about the town and that’s pretty much how things go for the whole episode. Continue reading

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei (When They Cry Gratitude)

Published by:

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei gets back to the psychological and mysterious line of Higurashi shows. Rei keeps the muystery part without all the slashing.

The story starts where the first two series left off. As usual, everything is based around Rika and Rika has some decisions to make. A new event sends Rika into “another world” which is more of a soul searching event for her. You’ll notice some notable characters missing but it all plays into the storyline. Don’t worry, everyone is present in one form or another once you get past the first episode which is typical OVA stuff. You can probably ignore the fifth one too, more comedy OVA type stuff. Karen Senki

Published by:

Karen Senki is a show I couldn’t avoid. For a while, Crunchyroll was playing the promo during almost every show. Since I couldn’t get away from the promo, I went to find it and watch it.

Karen Senki lives in a post-apocalyptic world where machines rule and they try to completely take over the world. Karen Senki’s motivation is the loss of her sister to the machines. As time goes on, Karen starts to grow cold and distant, like the machines, to numb the grief of her loss. The machine leader at the same time wants to learn what love is and how to be more human. Plastic Nee-san

Published by:

Plastic Nee-san follows a third-year high school girl who likes building plastic models and the wacky conversations she has with her fellow club members Okappa and MakiMaki.

Plastic Nee-san is another of the short gag comedy shows that has come out recently. This is one that I found because I wanted to see where this gif came from. Seriously, that’s the reason I looked for it.

Outbreak Company (Autobureiku Kanpanī)

Published by:

This is a show that I expected to be garbage. The way it was described on some sites made it seem like a show that was just made to fill a spot in the schedule. This show actually surprised me and was very well done.

Shinichi is an otaku who ends up being hired as an ambassador to a foreign land. He’s not sure why it happened but he’s the one chosen. Shinichi is sent off to a foreign land which is actually a land beyond a gate like a World Trigger or GATE. This land he’s sent to is a land from the past with castles, dragons, monarchs and catapults. His job is to bring otaku culture to this new land but he has to deal with people not wanting to embrace the culture, race/class issues and more to get the message across. Continue reading

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kira (When They Cry Glitter)

Published by:

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kira, why? Why why why Who thought this was a good idea to celebrate the 10th anniversary? Why would you make OVAs that have nothing to do with the Higurashi that people know and love (or despise). This is nothing like the first or second series or the Outbreak OVA. This is light and airy drek. Usually I save that kind of comment for the end but this one really irked me.

Keichii and the guys dreaming up new punishment games for if Keichii ever wins. Then there’s Rika and Satoko as magical girls. You have Keiichi in a love triangle or square… They do make use of all the characters so you’ll probably see your favorite or hated characters in some weird situations Continue reading
