Cøde:Breaker (Kōdo:Bureikā)

Published by:

Code Breaker is one from 2012 that I missed. It was probably because one of the characters looks like a glitter boy and I can’t stand that crap. Even the other images have the guys in the show looking like it’s a yaoi show and as we know, I don’t do yaoi at all.

Picture this: you’re riding the bus one day and you look outside the window and there are people being burned alive with blue flames while there’s a guy about your age who’s standing in the middle and not being burned. Well that’s what happened to Sakura, she was on the bus and saw that scene but she wasn’t sure what she saw. Then when she goes to class the next day, there’s a new transfer student. Yes it’s the blue flame guy, Rei Ogami. Rei Ogami is special type of assassin with special powers, a member of a secret organization that actually serves the government. Continue reading

Upotte!!

Published by:

While looking for something to watch, that wasn’t too long, I came across Upotte!! I skipped this one when it was out because it seemed like it would be moe with guns. While it does have some cuteness, it’s not about cute girls doing cute things. They don’t look super cutesy like in Is This Order a Rabbit? or Girls und Panzer which would probably be a show closer in themes since they’re both military.

Upotte takes place at Seishou Academy, a school where the students are anthropomorphized guns that are training to become useful weapons and get their own personal serviceman. The school is broken up into groups: elementary school (sub-machine guns), middle school (assault rifles), and high school (Battle rifles/sniper rifles). The girls are able to manifest their guns and use them, using live ammo. They’re training to hit their targets with accuracy like someone who trains to use guns would do. This is all foreign to the new human teacher Genkoku who first has to get used to the girls being guns and then the battles they go through. Continue reading

School Live! (Gakkō Gurashi!)

Published by:

I was passing on this show until someone said it had a Higurashi vibe and Higurashi is a show that I liked. I was planning to watch most of the summer season anyway since I had a lot of free time but this might have gotten pushed back if someone didn’t say that.

Yuki Takeya is a bright cheery girl who loves school in every way imaginable. Yuki is part of the School Living Club at her high school with Kurumi, Yuri, Miki and a teacher who is affectionately known as Megu-nee though she repeatedly asks them not to call her that since she is their their and they should be calling her sensei. Yuki seeks out fun things to do at school while they’re ‘living’ there. The other girls work hard to keep her safe because the reality of it all is that they’re seemingly the sole survivors of a zombie outbreak. Continue reading

Published by:

Blood Blockade Battlefront is centered around a crime fighting organization called Libra who fight all sorts of extraterrestrial creatures in Hellsalem’s Lot. Hellsalem’s Lot is the city that used to be known as New York City. A portal between Earth and the netherworld opened up over New York City one day which trapped New Yorkers and creatures from another world in an impenetrable bubble, leaving Hellsalem’s Lot as a mixture of magic, crime, zombies, vampires, other creatures, blood weapons and and humans, what more could you ask for. Black Bullet (Burakku Buretto)

Published by:

Have to admit that Black Bullet is one I picked for the name. I figured that with a name like that, someone’s getting shot. Though I thought more like a survival thing where you only have one shot or it’s some special bullet like how silver bullets kill werewolves. It wasn’t any of those but it was still an action show and I’m a fan of action so at least that part worked out.

It’s the year 2021 and humanity has been ravaged by the Gastrea epidemic, a parasitic virus which takes over the human host and turns them into a monster. People have been forced to live within the barrier of Monolith walls which are created from Varanium, a metal that is able to subdue Gastrea. Soon after the epidemic there are children who are born with the virus and they obtain supernatural powers because of it. Because of the virus, these children are all female and are known as “Cursed Children”.

Groups known as Civil Securities are formed to fight the Gastrea. They are formed by a Promoter, a skilled fighter and an Initiator, a Cursed Child. 10 years after the epidemic starts, Rentaro Satomi,a high school student and Promoter, joined by Enju Aihara his Initiator and Kisara Tendo, a childhood friend form the Tendo Civil Security Agency. Together, Rentaro and Enju go on missions to prevent the destruction of Tokyo and the rest of the world. Continue reading

RWBY

Published by:

For some reason I stopped watching the show. It wasn’t because I didn’t like the show. I think it was because Crunchyroll decided to pull it’s app from OUYA for no logical reason yet they released it for Wii which has been dead for a while but I digress. Yes I stream my stuff through the OUYA, rather do that then watch on a laptop. On with the show…

RWBY takes place in a world called Remnant. It’s a world filled with supernatural forces, shadowy creatures known as ‘Creatures of Grimm’ and also high tech weaponry. Prior to the events of the series, mankind fought a battle of survival against the Creatures of Grimm before they discovered an element called Dust. Dust allowed the humans to fight back because it’s what powers their abilities and also their weapons. Where the story for the show comes in is the training of new hunters and huntresses to help in the battle against the Creatures of Grimm. Beacon Academy in the city of Vale is where they come together to learn and train their abilities, this is where they meet the others who will be battling alongside them. Continue reading

Danganronpa the Animation

Published by:

Danganronpa, a name that a lot of people know from visual novels. I have never touched visual novels so I wasn’t familiar with it but 16 people locked in a classroom/school who have to kill each other? What’s not to like, right?

16 students get locked in a school by an anonymous figure with one goal. Survive. The students are told that only one of them gets to survive and everyone else dies. These students aren’t killers and don’t want to kill each other so it makes for a philosophical debate. To kill or not to kill. Continue reading

Samurai Harem! (Asu no Yoichi!)

Published by:

Samurai Harem is one of those shows where you see the promo and say “maybe I’ll watch later” and then forget. There was nothing that stood out about it back then and nothing that really stands out about it now.

Yoichi is a samurai who has been living in the mountains perfecting his craft. One day his father sends him to strengthen his spirit with the Ikaruga family in the city because he had nothing left to teach him. There is a dojo which practices his Samurai style lead by Ibuki Ikaruga and this is where Yoichi is sent to continue his learning but not in the ways of the samurai. Yoichi needs to learn about things that are more practical like electronics, clothing, school and not getting killed by Ibuki. While he’s in the city he has other martial artists coming after him so that their style can become the preeminent style over the Ukiha Divine Wind Style Swordplay. A wayward samurai in the city, nothing can go wrong there right? Continue reading

Aesthetic of a Rogue Hero (Hagure Yuusha no Aesthetica)

Published by:

Usually the story would go like this: Hero defeats bad guy, good wins and evil goes home. Hero expects to go home and be treated like a conqueror. Happily ever after and all that. Well sometimes that isn’t the case as Akatsuki Ousawa is about to find out.

Aesthetic of a Rogue Hero takes place in a fantasy setting, a world where young men and women find themselves spirited away to another world. A world of swords and magic known as Alayzard. Those who survive and are able to make it back to their world are given magical abilities. An international training organization known as Babel protects the survivors and trains them to use their abilities properly so they can protect themselves and the world if needed. Akatsuki is one of those who made it back from the other world but he has cargo with him, a girl named Myuu who is the daughter of the Last Dark Lord, whom he defeated in battle and made the promise that he would take care of his daughter. This is only the beginning of that quest. Continue reading
