Tonari no Seki-kun the Master of Killing Time (My Neighbor Seki-kun)

Published by:

Tonari no Seki-kun is a short show coming in at about 7 minutes per episode. The premise of the show is about two students Rumi and Seki. Seki is always doing something that is not classwork and Rumi is “trying” to study and pay attention but gets sucked into Seki’s world. Even in the cover shot you see Seki building a volcano. While Seki is doing all these things, Rumi is watching and not paying attention. Continue reading

Blood Lad (Buraddo Raddo)

Published by:

Blood Lad is one that I’ve been wanting to see for a while. No there wasn’t any special reason but the name was drawing me in. These days vampires are all sparkly and this one wasn’t so I thought I should check it out.

The show is about a slacker demon Staz who happens to be the head of one of the Demon World sections. He’s a closet otaku and keeps it from everyone but then one day a girl from he Human World ends up in his territory. This girl is the catalyst for the whole show. Without going into too much plot detail, this show is somewhat of a quest type show. You don’t have to wait long to get to the plot of the show, it’s laid out in the first episode. Continue reading

I’m Still Alive!

Published by:

Ever feel like you’re falling without a parachute? That’s been me lately while trying to catch up with everything. Since slicing my wrist open with a miter saw I’ve had typing issues then my laptop and keyboard started dying so had to get a new one. Now I’m trying to get my files from the old one to the new one and my tabs in Firefox. I have to get back into a routine since I’m so far behind on this site and my game blog too. Haven’t written anything for the manga in a while because I couldn’t but I’ve had a lot of dialogue ideas. I’ll get there somehow…

Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya

Published by:

Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya is a spinoff of Fate/Stay Night.  Fate/Stay Night was more of a fantasy battle type show but this one involves magical girls with the fantasy aspect mixed in since there is a lot of carryover from the original show. Illyasviel von Einzbern from the original series is here as the protagonist, living her life as a schoolgirl.

The 1st season of the show starts off with Ilya being given magical girl powers. Alone with her “mentor” Rin from the first series, she must learn what being a magical girl is about. She goes through the ups and downs of getting awesome and not knowing how to control it. The show has a lot of her school life mixed in too so it’s not ALL action but there is a decent amount of it. KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! (Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!)

Published by:

Konosuba is a show that I was going to pass on but I started watching. Was not impressed at first but the show kind of grows on you. And it seriously grew on Japan because it started getting the top rank in Japanese polls after a few weeks.

Satou is a hikikomori who’s life came to an end in a traffic accident. At least that’s what he thought but he woke up in front of a girl who called herself a goddess. She offers him the chance to go to another world but he can only take one thing with him. He couldn’t think of anything so he answered by saying he’d take HER. And so the journey begins, an adventure where the reborn Satou and the goddess must now slay the Demon King. Continue reading

The Fruit of Grisaia/The Labyrinth of Grisaia/The Eden of Grisaia

Published by:

So I finally decided to watch the Grisaia trilogy again. Well it’s not truly a trilogy since it’s a 13 episode first season, a 45 minute movie and then a 10 episode second season. That movie could have been chopped into a few episodes and merged into the second season. Let’s get into it.

The Fruit of Grisaia/Gurizaia no Kajitsu starts out like a typical harem anime. You meet the guy and some of the girls and the others stat coming into the picture. This first season follows Yuuji and his integration nto an all girls academy. Along the way he meets some really odd girls who each have their own issues. Yuuji’s mission is to help the girls with their issues which of course leads to forming bonds and getting him to break out of his own shell. If you’re only looking for your typical harem anime then you will want to stop here, the rest of the series takes a more serious turn though t still has comedy since comedy is part of the harem formula. God Eater is FINALLY Back

Published by:

So God Eater is back and looks as good as it did before but how is the content? Well God Eater is a good looking show with great music but some episodes were lacking. It was like one week up and one week down…when it actually aired. The first 9 episodes were on last spring but you would get an episode and then the next might be delayed for 2 weeks. it was not a good showing for God Eater but it was moved around because special events and other random things.

Episode 10 was a major flashback episode which to me lacked something. It just didn’t feel like the same show. But episode 11 was an A. Might be the best episode so far. God Eater was scheduled for 13 episodes so there’s only 2 more left. Though with all the time that has passed, most people probably need to go back and watch the first 9.

Ga-Rei: Zero

The show is about the Japanese Ministry of Defense and their anti-paranormal special forces called the Supernatural Disaster Prevention Office. They’re tasked with protecting Japan from supernatural and paranormal events. Of course there are missions that go awry and you’re dropped right into the middle of one from the beginning of the show. Houkago Play

Published by:

This is one that came up as similar to Ojojojo so I checked it out too. Ojojojo is a lot more of a heartwarming type comedy/gag manga where Houkago Play is…well some type of comedy but I personally got very few laughs out of it. I try to keep my feeling about something towards the end but there isn’t much to say about this one. I guess it was kind of popular among the otaku since the girlfriend has gotten several statues made. Continue reading
