Love, Chunnibyou & Other Delusions! is a show that gets high marks from many people. It’s a romantic comedy with a heavy emphasis on the comedy side. If you know the quality that Kyoto Animation brings to the table then you know what you’re in for.
Season 1 brings us into the story where Yuuta who used to suffer from chunnibyou comes in contact with a girl who is going through it. Rikka is seen as an odd outcast that no one should be around but Yuuta ends up forming a contract with her. Yuuta’s new ordinary life is now going to be turned upside down by this event. While the families seem to be trying to pull them apart, Yuuta is committed to following through on his contract. This is only the beginning of Yuuta and Rikka’s adventures with an oddball cast of characters going along for the ride. Continue readingby
The show is about Yuuta, a first year college student. Yuuta has an older sister Yuri and they were orphaned as children. Yuri took it upon herself to raise him on her own at that point. Now years later, Yuri is married and Yuuta is asked to babysit her daughter Hina and two step daughters Sora and Miu while her and her husband go on a trip. The plane that Yuri and her husband are on crashes and they’re presumed dead. Now Yuuta has 3 young girls that he has to take care until one day, the same scene from his childhood occurs, where the older members of the family try to separate the girls but Yuuta fights to keep them together. What is Yuuta to do, now that he’s a college student and has his 3 nieces to take care of in his tiny apartment? Continue readingby
The Cool Kyoushinsha reading continues. Rabuta is about a girl who for some reason is in love with the school’s biggest delinquent. They’re polar opposites on top of that. His nickname or what the others in class call him is “white pig” because he’s tall, bald and fat but the girl is tiny. She keeps telling him that she likes him and he keeps resisting but she slowly wears him down and it turns into a decent little story.
Heroes slaying Demon Kings go hand in hand when it comes to anime and that’s exactly where this anime starts off. So a hero is sent to the demon realm to slay the Demon King and what he encounters is definitely not what he was expected. He runs into a buxom beauty claiming to be the Demon King. They go back and forth since he has a problem believing that she is the one everyone is afraid of. Instead of an epic battle, she engages him in conversation about how war does not benefit either way. This leads them down a path that neither one could have imagined. Continue readingby
A lot of you will be familiar with Shuri from her anime this past season. It was a short show at only about 2 minutes but it was a good introduction to Shuri and her friends. You’ll see that the anime came directly from the source material. Since it’s a 4koma, they extend situations to fit on the big screen but sometimes it was like watching the show again.
Shuri is a junior high school girl who can’t refuse any request no matter what it is. You wouldn’t be able to tell she’s young since she’s well developed compared to the others, she looks more like a teacher than their friend. But she is an innocent girl who just likes helping people. If anyone needs something, they go to Shuri. It works in another way too. If someone says they want her to pass a test, one she’s normally have issues with, then she’ll do it. Continue readingby
Those eyes, who’s are they…you may have heard this line before, that’s because Chaos;Head is in a line of shows that all use that line. Stein’s; Gate, Robotics’ Note and I’m sure Stein’s; Gate 0 and Chais; Child will use that line too.
Chaos; Head takes place in 2008 (yes it’s relevant to the 3 shows and where they fall in the timeline). Takumi is a high school student and an extreme otaku who is living in an unconventional way, in a shipping container with a 2D delusion from hs head as his main companion. One day he hears about murders known as “New Gen murders” but he dismisses it because it doesn’t concern him, or so he thought. He is mysteriously pulled into the center of the occurrences which he believes to be delusions but soon his delusions and reality clash and now he has to figure out what’s going on before his world comes to a halt. I watched the first one so definitely had to watch the second. I’m a guy who tries to watch everything in it’s entirety plus it’s a Kyoto show. I like the way that Kyoto works from their employment tactics to the end product. Not many animation studios are like them and if I’m lucky enough to get my manga turned into an anime, they’re at the top of the wishlist. Anyway….
But ‘Switch, isn’t it just more cute girls being cute? Partially, yes. K-On’s premise is based on the light music club forming, getting people to join, etc. It’s not different from any other slice of life , school show really. The humor is not of the outrageous Seitokai Yakuindomo type, it’s more light humor and the girls personalities. Continue readingby
Mononoke Sharing is another from the Cool Kyoushinsha. Yes I read through a lot of his stuff the past few days.
The main character Yata is very much like Kobayashi from Dragon Maid but since he made it, that kind of happens sometimes. It’s about a high school girl who has to find a place to live but she doesn’t have a lot of money. So she moves in with 5 big breasted yokai (that’s how Cool described it so I am too). Continue readingby
Still running down the library of Cool. Metsuko ni Yoroshiku is one that couldn’t get into. The protagonist is a fighter with a hair trigger and those characters usually have no depth. This one isn’t too much different. She’s the neighborhood delinquent and seems to be the toughest one there. Of course she gets to have a friend so she isn’t a completely one sided character.
The character always gets weird looks, called fat and so on which she is actually but it seems to just play to the stereotype instead of just being the character. I don’t know how to word that better…it sounded better in my head. Continue readingby
