Is This Order a Rabbit?? (Gochūmon wa Usagi Desu ka??) [Season 2]

Published by:

What do you get when you add sugar to sugar and mix in some sugar? Is This Order a Rabbit Season 2. I’m not going to drag this one out. It’s cute girls being cute with the added bonus of Cocoa’s goofy older sister and Chino’s friends. This show has great visuals as usual and everything around it is as tight as the first season, if not better. But again, if you’re not into these shows then you might want to stay far far away. If diabetes runs in your family then be careful. You may want to check out the first season on this one before watching if you do plan to watch this.

The Perfect Insider (Subete ga F ni Naru)

Published by:

I always have high hopes when a mystery show comes along but Ranpo Kitan from last year left me wondering if anyone can pull it off anymore. Along comes The Perfect Insider which is adapted from a 1996 novel. It’s already been made into a manga, a visual novel and a drama so why not kick the tires on an anime right?

There is a very simple premise here. Sohei Saikawa, an associate professor of architectural engineering and Moe Nishinosono who is the daughter of his mentor, travel to a remote island to meet an artificial intelligence researcher named Shiki Magata. Shiki was accused of killing her parents but was found innocent because of her mental state at the time. After this incident Shiki locked herself away on this remote island to do her research. When Sohei and Moe get to the island, they meet Shiki Magata but not in the way they expected. When they see her, she is just a torso with her appendages on a dining cart. Since Sohei is a big fan of hers and Moe is the one Shiki was talking to before the trip, they decide that it’s up to them to solve the murder. Continue reading

Yuru Yuri San Hai (Season 3)

Published by:

Yuru Yuri’s 3rd season is really just more of the same. Cute girls doing cute things. The studio may have changed but the show is close to the same. This new studio kept the same quality of art, etc but they seemed to go with less humor and more ai. The relationships seemed to get closer but not full on making out or anything. Just girls and girls being girls together. I don’t want to go into a full on review/preview on this because there really is nothing to add. If you like the first 2 seasons then you’ll like this one too. If it’s not your thing then stay far far away, the sugary sweetness will make your teeth rot.

Seraph of the End: Battle in Nagoya (Owari no Seraph: Nagoya Kessen-hen)

Published by:

Seraph of the End: Battle in Nagoya is the second season of Seraph of the End. Not too much changes here as it’s a continuation from the first season. A direct continuation.

If you remember the first season, the vampires came hard and fast after the Moon Demon Company but this time they’re bringing to war to the vampire’s doorstep. It’s pretty much a number of flashbacks, battles and more battles with some infighting too. There are also a lot of intersecting storylines with different people with different agendas so there is a bit of intrigue.

While I did like this season, it failed in several categories. Continue reading

The Testament of Sister New Devil BURST

Published by:

Testament of Sister New Devil BURST is the 2nd season of Testament of Sister New Devil. It’s just as raunchy, ecchi and obscene as the first but truncated into 10 episodes.

Everything that transpired in the first season seems to have died down and life is back to “normal”. As normal as it can be when you live with a succubus and the devil’s daughter. While perparing for a sports event at school, Basara and the others are attacked by magic wielding humans. Due to the strength of this attack, Basara wants to become stronger so he can protect his new family from this new threat. Rukia, Maria’s sister, appears and leads Basara and the girls to the demon realm where a new battle for control has begun. Continue reading

Dimension W Broadcast Dub Version Going Straight to Toonami

Published by:

I’m sure some of you have been waiting for the Dimension W dub version. Well guess what? It’s going straight to Toonami. This is a first for broadcast dubs to air while the show is still on in Japan. It won’t even be available on Funimation.com until 2 weeks after it airs. I guess you can say Space Dandy may be a first since it was shown dubbed and subbed at the same time but it was before Funimation started doing broadcast dubs. Funimation is on the production committee for the show and it seems like they went in big time on Dimension W. I like the show and hope it gets more than a 12 episode run because so far it looks like something that needs more than 12 to tell the story.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin

Published by:

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin is an origin story of the Red Comet. It delves into the past of Casval Rem Deikun and Artesia Som Deikun. It goes from their childhood to the time that Casval leaves to later become the Red Comet. For those trying to keep up with the Gundam universe, it takes place before the One Year War.

Don’t pick this one up for action scenes. There are a few and the usual explosions and people dying but it’s more of the backstory part of their journey through their turbulent lives. It can be slow at times but it can’t all be action 100% of the time. You get to watch Casval and Artesia grow up while trying to survive the usual political issues that occur in Gundam series. Puella Magi Madoka Magica (Mahō Shōjo Madoka Magika)

Published by:

Puella Magi Madoka Magica? Really dawg? You watched that? Yes, yes I did…one of the sites that does top ten lists had this list of gruesome murders and it was on it so I had to see what happened. I will say that the murder was pretty brutal so I have to go find that site and thank them.

On the face of this one, you would think it’s just a shiny magical girl show but it’s not. Trust me, it’s not. It starts off looking like one but this show is much much darker than that. Where else would you see magical girls using guns or trying to kill each other? The magical girl game is getting hardcore. Don’t take that for the whole show being like that, it’s not an action show for the most part. It does have it’s girly girly moments too but there was a lot that I didn’t expect from this one. A lot.

Gunplay that would rival some serious action shows.

Madoka is a middle school student who along with her friend Sayaka, encounter a creature known as Kyubey. This creature offers to make a contract with them to be magical girls but a transfer student named Homura stops Madoka from forming the contract. Along the way, Madoka and Sayaka meet another magical girl named Mami who brings them along on witch hunts so they can see what being a magical girl is about. Madoka learns quickly that it’s a pretty cruel lifestyle filled with danger, anguish, suffering and even death. This is only the beginning od the journey for Madoka, Sayaka and Homura. Sexy and Stupid Water Polo Comedy (Hantsu x Trash)

Published by:

Hantsu x Trash also known as Sexy and Stupid Water Polo Comedy is a manga that has a decent amount of material but all it ended up with is a 10 minute OVA.

The story behind Hantsu x Trash is about a high school freshman Hamaji Youhei who leads an aimless life. He doesn’t keep up in school, he’s not good at sports and doesn’t stick to anything very long. He’s just an average hormonal driven teenager with no outlet. A sophomore friend comes along and convinces him to join the Water Polo Club where he can lunge at girls and touch them all he wants and this is where the OVA kicks in. Continue reading

Rec (Rekku)

Published by:

Rec is a short anime that came out a decade ago. It actually started airing in February of 2006. One look at the show and you can tell it’s from that timeline but it doesn’t look as dated as a lot of older shows do. If I said it came out this year, you might actually believe me.

Fumihiko is just an average working guy with no girlfriend. He invites a woman out from work and she stands him up. Another woman, named Aka, who happens to be passing by when he’s about to throw out the tickets, gets him to go see the movie with her instead. The two of them have dinner and then he walks her home when they find out they live in the same neighborhood. Unfortunately a mere few hours later there was a fire which burned her apartment down. Fumihiko being concerned, went to go see if Aka was okay but he finds her there in the rain, holding onto the last of her possessions. Fumihiko invites her to stay at his place and they begin a new relationship “more than friends and less than lovers” which they hide from their coworkers. Can the two co-exist with all the tensions growing between them? Continue reading
