Soul Eater (Sōru Ītā)

Published by:

Soul Eater is one that I kept pushing back for some reason. Not sure why since I’ve been on the lookout for longer animes. I am so tired of the 12-13 episode crap of recent times.

The show takes place at Death Weapon Meister Academy. The main characters are 3 students who are weapon meisters and they’re paired with weapons who can transform into humans with their own personalities. Their goal is to make their weapons into Death Scythes who are suitable to serve the headmaster. That headmaster is Death. To do this they must collect 99 souls and a witch in that order or they have to start over. Continue reading

KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! (Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!)

Published by:

Konosuba is a show that I was going to pass on but I started watching. Was not impressed at first but the show kind of grows on you. And it seriously grew on Japan because it started getting the top rank in Japanese polls after a few weeks.

Satou is a hikikomori who’s life came to an end in a traffic accident. At least that’s what he thought but he woke up in front of a girl who called herself a goddess. She offers him the chance to go to another world but he can only take one thing with him. He couldn’t think of anything so he answered by saying he’d take HER. And so the journey begins, an adventure where the reborn Satou and the goddess must now slay the Demon King. Continue reading

Maoyuu Maou Yuusha (Demon Queen and Hero)

Published by:

Heroes slaying Demon Kings go hand in hand when it comes to anime and that’s exactly where this anime starts off. So a hero is sent to the demon realm to slay the Demon King and what he encounters is definitely not what he was expected. He runs into a buxom beauty claiming to be the Demon King. They go back and forth since he has a problem believing that she is the one everyone is afraid of. Instead of an epic battle, she engages him in conversation about how war does not benefit either way. This leads them down a path that neither one could have imagined. Continue reading

RWBY

Published by:

For some reason I stopped watching the show. It wasn’t because I didn’t like the show. I think it was because Crunchyroll decided to pull it’s app from OUYA for no logical reason yet they released it for Wii which has been dead for a while but I digress. Yes I stream my stuff through the OUYA, rather do that then watch on a laptop. On with the show…

RWBY takes place in a world called Remnant. It’s a world filled with supernatural forces, shadowy creatures known as ‘Creatures of Grimm’ and also high tech weaponry. Prior to the events of the series, mankind fought a battle of survival against the Creatures of Grimm before they discovered an element called Dust. Dust allowed the humans to fight back because it’s what powers their abilities and also their weapons. Where the story for the show comes in is the training of new hunters and huntresses to help in the battle against the Creatures of Grimm. Beacon Academy in the city of Vale is where they come together to learn and train their abilities, this is where they meet the others who will be battling alongside them. Continue reading

Utawarerumono

Published by:

I went back to watch Utawarerumono because the new season is out and I like to have background on what I’m watching. It looks like the 2 stories will be similar but not the same. It looks like Utawarerumono ended where it was and the new season does not connect to it unless there will be some twist at the end or something. So far the second season has no mention of anything from the first but it’s only 3 episodes in.

A masked man was found in a cave, battling a demon, by Aruruu He’s suffering from amnesia and she saves him.  takes him to her home to treat him until he’s well again. Since he doesn’t remember anything, he names him Hakuoro after her father and soon he becomes part of their family. It’s her, her sister Eluru and their grandmother Tusukuru. As things progress, Hakuoro finds that the village is being oppressed and he ends up leading a rebellion against the emperor of the country. Hakuoro learns that peace is not easy to maintain and he must lead the villagers into battle to protect Tusukuru and it’s inhabitants. Gurren Lagann (Tengen Toppa Guren Ragan)

Published by:

Gurren Lagaan is a show that you’ve probably heard of, if you haven’t seen it yet. But if you haven’t seen it yet then why not? Stop staring at this blog and go watch it. Ok, don’t stop staring at this blog but go watch the show.

The story is about a far off future, one where mankind was pushed underground, living in caves and they don’t know about the world above, the sky, the stars and everything else.

There is a small village named Jiha where Simon works as a differ and discovers a strange glowing object during a work excavation. This object will be a precursor to some of the events that will be coming. Simon meets Kamina, a brash and passionate teenager and they form the Gurren Brigade. A brigade created to break through the cave ceiling and see the world outside which many don’t even believe exists anymore. They meet a lot of people along the way, including Yoko. A girl who carries a big frikkin gun and you’ve probably seen a lot of her in other media. What they see when they make it out of the caves is only the beginning of this tale.  Continue reading

Overlord (Ōbārōdo)

Published by:

Overlord and Gangsta were my most anticipated shows of the summer. It was really just the names. Gangsta and Overlord. It just sounds like a ton of action and asses getting kicked which they both were.

The show is set in the world of Yggdrasil, an MMORPG that is being shut down. Momonga is one of the last players left after the servers are shut down and when he goes to log out, he’s stuck in the game. So what would you do if you were locked in and no way out but you were a top level player? The first thing that should come to your mind is take over the world which is now your reality and rule it with an iron fist and that’s just what he plans to do. Continue reading

Steel Angel Kurumi

Published by:

Steel Angel Kurumi is one I watched long ago, I remembered liking the show so I watched it again. Kurumi is a character that you don’t forget about. She’s goofy, loveable and overbearing all at the same time.

The show takes place in the 1920s, a time of war across the world. But the story of Nakahito and Kurumi has a much more innocent beginning. Nakahito was pressured by his friends to go into a house that was rumored to belong to a mad scientist. While in the house, he came across a very lifelike doll but she was inanimate at the time. This doll is Kurumi. The Japanese army attacks the house while Nakahito’s in there and during the attack, the doll fell over. Nakahito tries to protect the doll in the attack and ends up kissing her which brings her to life. What Nakahito didn’t know is that the army is after Kurumi which leads to their various adventures. Sol Bianca: The Legacy

Published by:

Sol Bianca: The Legacy is a miniseries from 1999. It’s loosely based on the original Sol Bianca. As a matter of fact, it looks like it takes place BEFORE the original. It’s a different storyline from the original so don’t expect any open plotlines to be closed or anything like that if you were waiting for it.

The setting for the show is thousands of years in the future. A future where mankind has abandoned Earth. The ladies of Sol Bianca are up to their usual pirating antics until one day a young girl stows away on the ship (how is the Sol Bianca always a place for stowaways). This event leads the Sol Bianca on a quest to find the girl’s parents and also discover the lost treasures of Earth, the planet left behind. Continue reading
