Monster List (Yaoguai Mingdan)

Published by:

Monster List is an anime out of China. It’s in the same format as Cupid’s Chocolate where every episode is about 12 minutes. I assume that’s a thing for them. I have not done much research into China’s anime scene.

A foxy tempress, a tree demon, a girl with goddess powers and one guy in between them. Feng Xi would be the unwitting hero of this story. Drawn into situation after situation with these girls, he learns to adjust to his new life. One where he must preserve the peace and seemingly save the world at the same time. Continue reading

Dog Gods! (Inukami!)

Published by:

Inukami is a show I picked at random from a bunch of harem animes. I wanted something longer than 12 episodes and Inukami clocks in at 25 plus a “movie”. So it definitely fit the bill.

Keita and Youko are paired together through means which are discussed in the show. Keita is a perverted teenage shaman low on cash and Youko is a spirit bound by contract to each other. Keita is a nice change from the usual weak character but he has a lot to learn. Like any shaman and spirit, they have spirits to exorcise to get some cash and upgrade their lifestyle but along the way they have many adventures.

Inukami is one of the rare ones where all the girls get some airtime. Continue reading

Blood Lad (Buraddo Raddo)

Published by:

Blood Lad is one that I’ve been wanting to see for a while. No there wasn’t any special reason but the name was drawing me in. These days vampires are all sparkly and this one wasn’t so I thought I should check it out.

The show is about a slacker demon Staz who happens to be the head of one of the Demon World sections. He’s a closet otaku and keeps it from everyone but then one day a girl from he Human World ends up in his territory. This girl is the catalyst for the whole show. Without going into too much plot detail, this show is somewhat of a quest type show. You don’t have to wait long to get to the plot of the show, it’s laid out in the first episode. Continue reading

Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya

Published by:

Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya is a spinoff of Fate/Stay Night.  Fate/Stay Night was more of a fantasy battle type show but this one involves magical girls with the fantasy aspect mixed in since there is a lot of carryover from the original show. Illyasviel von Einzbern from the original series is here as the protagonist, living her life as a schoolgirl.

The 1st season of the show starts off with Ilya being given magical girl powers. Alone with her “mentor” Rin from the first series, she must learn what being a magical girl is about. She goes through the ups and downs of getting awesome and not knowing how to control it. The show has a lot of her school life mixed in too so it’s not ALL action but there is a decent amount of it. KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! (Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!)

Published by:

Konosuba is a show that I was going to pass on but I started watching. Was not impressed at first but the show kind of grows on you. And it seriously grew on Japan because it started getting the top rank in Japanese polls after a few weeks.

Satou is a hikikomori who’s life came to an end in a traffic accident. At least that’s what he thought but he woke up in front of a girl who called herself a goddess. She offers him the chance to go to another world but he can only take one thing with him. He couldn’t think of anything so he answered by saying he’d take HER. And so the journey begins, an adventure where the reborn Satou and the goddess must now slay the Demon King. Continue reading

Maoyuu Maou Yuusha (Demon Queen and Hero)

Published by:

Heroes slaying Demon Kings go hand in hand when it comes to anime and that’s exactly where this anime starts off. So a hero is sent to the demon realm to slay the Demon King and what he encounters is definitely not what he was expected. He runs into a buxom beauty claiming to be the Demon King. They go back and forth since he has a problem believing that she is the one everyone is afraid of. Instead of an epic battle, she engages him in conversation about how war does not benefit either way. This leads them down a path that neither one could have imagined. Continue reading

Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon

Published by:

Guess I’m going to read more of Cool’s manga before I get back to writing my own. Who can resist a title with ‘maid dragon’ in it? In the closing of the first chapter, Cool actually tells the story of how this manga came about. I won’t spoil it for you though.

I’m sure you’ve heard the age old story of a woman getting drunk off her ass and climbing a mountain to find a dragon, right? Well that’s how Kobayashi and Tooru meet. I don’t know how many people climb mountain after getting drunk but Kobayashi did and there she meets Tooru in dragon form, I guess because she was drunk, she wasn’t scared. Not realizing what she said when she was drunk, she invited Tooru to live with her. Continue reading

The Testament of Sister New Devil BURST

Published by:

Testament of Sister New Devil BURST is the 2nd season of Testament of Sister New Devil. It’s just as raunchy, ecchi and obscene as the first but truncated into 10 episodes.

Everything that transpired in the first season seems to have died down and life is back to “normal”. As normal as it can be when you live with a succubus and the devil’s daughter. While perparing for a sports event at school, Basara and the others are attacked by magic wielding humans. Due to the strength of this attack, Basara wants to become stronger so he can protect his new family from this new threat. Rukia, Maria’s sister, appears and leads Basara and the girls to the demon realm where a new battle for control has begun. Continue reading

Lances N’ Masques (Ransu Ando Masukusu)

Published by:

Where do I begin with this one. It’s a typical story of a maiden in distress, kind of. A little girl is saved by a kid who thinks he’s a knight. Of course this little girl looks up to the knight and wants to marry him some day. The show is about the little girl’s daily life and the knight continuing to try to be her personal knight.

The characters in this show are horrible. Starting from the art, down to the personalities. Look at the characters, they all have the same egg like heads and the hair isn’t too much different either. It became hard to tell who’s who unless they had a REALLY different look. The personalities are just so cliched. There was not one character who stood out in the show as special or someone that you could truly root for besides the main character who you’re supposed to root for. Continue reading

Dragonar Academy (Seikoku no Doraguna)

Published by:

Dragonar Academy was recently dubbed and I decided to check it out. I never watched it the first time around so this was a new one for me.

It takes place in a land of dragons and breeders. The breeders are chosen by the mother dragon. The mother dragon chooses who she deems worthy and brands them with a mark known as a Seikoku (star brand). These star brands would be like a normal sized tattoo these days but Ash is branded with a massive full sleeve like brand. Over time the dragons will manifest to their breeders. The issue for Ash is that his has not appeared yet while everyone else at the academy has their dragon. This makes Ash “The Problem Child”, he can control other dragons but doesn’t have one of his own. Continue reading
