Ange Vierge (Anju Vieruju)

Published by:

This show was from the summer 2016 season. It was one of the shows I thought of passing but once I start something I usually can’t stop because I want to know if a train wreck becomes good or a good show goes bad, etc.

The premise of the show is the fusing of 5 worlds and girls from each world must come together to stop it from happening. Each of the girls has special powers called Exceed power and they’re based on the worlds they come from. They stay on an island in the Pacific Ocean where they train and hone their capabilities. Trinity 7

Published by:

Arata Kasuga is “cursed” with something known as the Collapse Phenomenon which has the capability of destroying the world and there are people after him for this power. Some want to be able to abuse him power and there are others who want to kill him so this power doesn’t fall in the wrong hands. The ones looking to kill him are the girls of Biblia Academy. The girls each have their own powers based on the seven deadly sins so they are definitely capable of taking him out. What Arata doesn’t know is that the girls of the Academy may be his only hope of understanding the phenomenon and saving his cousin who seems to have disappeared because of it. Continue reading

Shikabane Hime (Corpse Princess)

Published by:

Here’s one I went way back for. Well not THAT far back but this is one that most people seem to have ignored. At least the people I know of anyway.

The show is based around a concept of “Shikabane Hime” which is after being murdered, some people come back with the goal of killing 108 regular shikabane to earn entry into heaven. Aiding the Shikabane Hime is a contracted monk. They have to have a contracted monk or they become ordinary shikabane which is basically a zombie that’s out of control for one reason or another. Makina is one such Shikabane Hime with the goal of avenging her family who was killed by a group known as the Seven Stars. Continue reading

Kemono Friends

Published by:

Well the season is over and I thought this would be the first one I threw out my thoughts about. Yes I know I have like 3-4 seasons to catch up writing about but anyway…

Kemono Friends, the anime that seemed to take Japan and fan art by storm. It’s crazy to think this show would be such a runaway hit. I doubt it is over here in the US but in Japan it definitely made waves.

The show is one that seems to be aimed at kids but it was on late at night which leads you to believe there is more to it than meets the eye. When you first look at the show you will probably say something like “what the hell is this”. It has some very very janky CGI, a friendly “meet the animals” type theme and it doesn’t give off anything that would seem more mature or adult. Though you can tell something apocalyptic happened. I will say the background art is okay. Continue reading

Blood Lad (Buraddo Raddo)

Published by:

Blood Lad is one that I’ve been wanting to see for a while. No there wasn’t any special reason but the name was drawing me in. These days vampires are all sparkly and this one wasn’t so I thought I should check it out.

The show is about a slacker demon Staz who happens to be the head of one of the Demon World sections. He’s a closet otaku and keeps it from everyone but then one day a girl from he Human World ends up in his territory. This girl is the catalyst for the whole show. Without going into too much plot detail, this show is somewhat of a quest type show. You don’t have to wait long to get to the plot of the show, it’s laid out in the first episode. Continue reading

Sola

Published by:

Sola is a show I picked randomly while snowed in. I had no expectations going into the show but I saw drama tags and a few others and thought it was going to be a slow meandering show but then there was another tag that caught my attention. Supernatural.

Yorito has an unexplained obsession with the sky. He loves taking pictures of the sky at different times of day. Sunsets, sunrises, the clouds and anything sky related. On one of his early morning trips to try to get pics of the sunrise he bumps into an awkward girl who seems to be fighting with a vending machine when her tomato juice gets stuck. Yorito helps the strange girl but while he has his back turned she disappears. This mysterious girl is surrounded in mystery and Yorito wants to figure out who she is. Continue reading

Monster List (Yaoguai Mingdan)

Published by:

Monster List is an anime out of China. It’s in the same format as Cupid’s Chocolate where every episode is about 12 minutes. I assume that’s a thing for them. I have not done much research into China’s anime scene.

A foxy tempress, a tree demon, a girl with goddess powers and one guy in between them. Feng Xi would be the unwitting hero of this story. Drawn into situation after situation with these girls, he learns to adjust to his new life. One where he must preserve the peace and seemingly save the world at the same time. Continue reading

Dog Gods! (Inukami!)

Published by:

Inukami is a show I picked at random from a bunch of harem animes. I wanted something longer than 12 episodes and Inukami clocks in at 25 plus a “movie”. So it definitely fit the bill.

Keita and Youko are paired together through means which are discussed in the show. Keita is a perverted teenage shaman low on cash and Youko is a spirit bound by contract to each other. Keita is a nice change from the usual weak character but he has a lot to learn. Like any shaman and spirit, they have spirits to exorcise to get some cash and upgrade their lifestyle but along the way they have many adventures.

Inukami is one of the rare ones where all the girls get some airtime. Continue reading

Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya

Published by:

Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya is a spinoff of Fate/Stay Night.  Fate/Stay Night was more of a fantasy battle type show but this one involves magical girls with the fantasy aspect mixed in since there is a lot of carryover from the original show. Illyasviel von Einzbern from the original series is here as the protagonist, living her life as a schoolgirl.

The 1st season of the show starts off with Ilya being given magical girl powers. Alone with her “mentor” Rin from the first series, she must learn what being a magical girl is about. She goes through the ups and downs of getting awesome and not knowing how to control it. The show has a lot of her school life mixed in too so it’s not ALL action but there is a decent amount of it. KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! (Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!)

Published by:

Konosuba is a show that I was going to pass on but I started watching. Was not impressed at first but the show kind of grows on you. And it seriously grew on Japan because it started getting the top rank in Japanese polls after a few weeks.

Satou is a hikikomori who’s life came to an end in a traffic accident. At least that’s what he thought but he woke up in front of a girl who called herself a goddess. She offers him the chance to go to another world but he can only take one thing with him. He couldn’t think of anything so he answered by saying he’d take HER. And so the journey begins, an adventure where the reborn Satou and the goddess must now slay the Demon King. Continue reading
