Samurai Harem! (Asu no Yoichi!)

Published by:

Samurai Harem is one of those shows where you see the promo and say “maybe I’ll watch later” and then forget. There was nothing that stood out about it back then and nothing that really stands out about it now.

Yoichi is a samurai who has been living in the mountains perfecting his craft. One day his father sends him to strengthen his spirit with the Ikaruga family in the city because he had nothing left to teach him. There is a dojo which practices his Samurai style lead by Ibuki Ikaruga and this is where Yoichi is sent to continue his learning but not in the ways of the samurai. Yoichi needs to learn about things that are more practical like electronics, clothing, school and not getting killed by Ibuki. While he’s in the city he has other martial artists coming after him so that their style can become the preeminent style over the Ukiha Divine Wind Style Swordplay. A wayward samurai in the city, nothing can go wrong there right? Continue reading

Ayane’s High Kick (Ayane-chan Hai Kikku)

Published by:

Ayane’s High Kick is about a 17 year old high school girl which wants to become a pro wrestler, like her idol Manami Toyota. She tries over and over to qualify but she keeps failing her audition chances.

A coach sees Ayane at an audition and invites her to his gym which really isn’t a gym. He has ulterior motives for her (no not THAT). But her desire to be a wrestler has her take him up on his offer to train her.

There isn’t much I can say about the show without blowing up the whole thing since there are only 2 episodes and it’s mostly her training and hiding her wrestling practice and everything else from her parents and the school administrators who will ban anyone caught doing extra curricular things for money even if it’s something athletic. Battle Royal High School (Shin Majin Den Batoru Roiyaru Haisukūru)

I wanted an OVA one day and the name Battle Royal High School stood out. If you were looking through names, you know it would have got your attention too, don’t lie.

This show is about Hyoudo Riki who is just an ordinary guy, as ordinary as you can be if you participate in Kung Fu matches wearing a tiger mask. He’s one of the top students at his school so it’s not like someone can say something to him about it. But one day Riki meets his own doppleganger Byoudo, the master of the Dark Realm and when a dimensional rift opens, an evil Fairy Master tricks Byoudo into making an attempt to conquer Earth. The Radio Wave-Like Girlfriend (Denpa teki na Kanojo)

Published by:

Juu Juuzawa is labelled as a delinquent by those in his school because his blond hair but he’s just high school boy who just wants to be left alone. Then one day an odd girl appears and gives him a story which he doesn’t believe. She tells him that she is someone from a past life, where he is her king and she’s his knight. She tells him that she wants to stand by his side and be of assistance to him. You do learn the meaning of the past lives this later in the OVA though you’ll have to pay attention since it’s a visual clue, a brief one at that.

Juu wants nothing to do with Ame since he thinks she is crazy and her actions would definitely lead someone to believe that. But while all this is going on, there are murders happening around the city and Ame seems to have some knowledge into what’s going on. Continue reading
