Cowboy Bebop: Heaven’s Door (Kaubōi Bibappu: Tengoku no Tobira)

Published by:

Cowboy Bebop: Heaven’s Door actually takes place between episodes 22 and 23 of the main series. The same style, aesthethics and musical stylings are kept in tact here so you won’t feel like you’re watching something that was made separately from the series.

There’s a pathogen that was released on Mars killing and injuring around 300 people so the government put a 300 million woolong bounty on the head of the perpetrator. Cowboy Bebop (Kaubōi Bibappu)

For some reason I only skimmed this show a few years ago but I never dully watched it. The name has always stuck out to me because of director Shinichirō Watanabe and his involvement with Space Dandy which is one of my all time favorites. Well I finally decided to watch the show and Mr Watanabe, I will be checking out the rest of the shows you directed too.

What was done is that every episode is filmed as a separate mini movie. Continue reading

Kite

Kite is a 50 minute OVA so I figured I could give it a chance. It’s only 50 minutes I’ll never get back right?

Kite revolves around an a schoolgirl named Sawa who is orphaned in her early teens. She is “adopted” by corrupt detectives named Akai and Kanie. Along the way she meets another assassin under the guardianship of Akai and Kanie by the name of Oburi. They’re ordered to kill fat cats, government officials, rapists and others and there is no other way, hit your target or become a target.

To dwelve any further would be to give up the plot. There really isn’t a strong plot here but it’s the basis of the show. There are a few twists which at least give this show a little depth but I just couldn’t get into it. Continue reading
