Arata Kasuga is “cursed” with something known as the Collapse Phenomenon which has the capability of destroying the world and there are people after him for this power. Some want to be able to abuse him power and there are others who want to kill him so this power doesn’t fall in the wrong hands. The ones looking to kill him are the girls of Biblia Academy. The girls each have their own powers based on the seven deadly sins so they are definitely capable of taking him out. What Arata doesn’t know is that the girls of the Academy may be his only hope of understanding the phenomenon and saving his cousin who seems to have disappeared because of it. Continue readingby
Inukami is a show I picked at random from a bunch of harem animes. I wanted something longer than 12 episodes and Inukami clocks in at 25 plus a “movie”. So it definitely fit the bill.
Keita and Youko are paired together through means which are discussed in the show. Keita is a perverted teenage shaman low on cash and Youko is a spirit bound by contract to each other. Keita is a nice change from the usual weak character but he has a lot to learn. Like any shaman and spirit, they have spirits to exorcise to get some cash and upgrade their lifestyle but along the way they have many adventures.
Inukami is one of the rare ones where all the girls get some airtime. Continue readingby

Ojojojo is one that I found by mistake but I’m glad I did. It’s a short 4koma which may or may not get a few more chapters. The mangaka who created it said he was only going to do 1 chapter but was convinced to make another. Just like an anime there are issues in the 2nd part.
The characters aren’t THAT different from other anime or manga but they will grasp you. You have two socially awkward characters, a tall, rich, tsundere who has problems making friends because her poor attitude and a quiet misfit outcast who, over time start to understand more about each other and become friends. The 2nd chapter introduces Continue readingby
Cupid’s Chocolate is a show out of China. I discovered it while cruising sites, looking for animation houses in countries other than Japan. I’ve been doing research so that I know costs in the future if I can take my manga further than a book. Better to know what you’re in for ahead of time than to wait for the last minute. Yes, if it comes down to it, I’ll do it myself…somehow.
Anyway, this show was one I expected very little from since you always hear that stuff out of China is not high quality. Well the quality on this one is actually pretty damned good. It’s about a high school boy who unknowingly shared “Cupid’s Chocolate” with a few girls at his school. What he didn’t know is that the chocolate will make them all think they’re in love with him. The show actually takes place after the chocolate so you don’t get to see that part. Now he has a harem of girls who all think they love him because the effects of the chocolate. His actions can break the curse or cause the curse to manifest even stronger. It’s a typical harem really but you get time spent on each character for development.
The show runs about 12 minutes an episode and they’re up to episode 12 now. Not sure how long the show runs but they’re going past 12 for sure. Check it out if you can find it.
Rec is a short anime that came out a decade ago. It actually started airing in February of 2006. One look at the show and you can tell it’s from that timeline but it doesn’t look as dated as a lot of older shows do. If I said it came out this year, you might actually believe me.
Fumihiko is just an average working guy with no girlfriend. He invites a woman out from work and she stands him up. Another woman, named Aka, who happens to be passing by when he’s about to throw out the tickets, gets him to go see the movie with her instead. The two of them have dinner and then he walks her home when they find out they live in the same neighborhood. Unfortunately a mere few hours later there was a fire which burned her apartment down. Fumihiko being concerned, went to go see if Aka was okay but he finds her there in the rain, holding onto the last of her possessions. Fumihiko invites her to stay at his place and they begin a new relationship “more than friends and less than lovers” which they hide from their coworkers. Can the two co-exist with all the tensions growing between them? Continue readingby
Onegai Teacher and Onegai Twins has a lot of carryover in characters. In both series, the main protagonist is put in a situation which is seemingly impossible but of course he figures out what he has to do. It is TV afterall and not real life where things never go as planned.

Then the next day he’s at school and the alien that he saw land is hs new homeroom teacher. Through a series of events, he learns of her origin and vows to protect her in any way he can. What he desn’t know is that it’s going to come in the form of marriage. The two get married and have to keep things a secret from everyone so that she doesn’t lose her job as a teacher. Dragonar Academy was recently dubbed and I decided to check it out. I never watched it the first time around so this was a new one for me.
It takes place in a land of dragons and breeders. The breeders are chosen by the mother dragon. The mother dragon chooses who she deems worthy and brands them with a mark known as a Seikoku (star brand). These star brands would be like a normal sized tattoo these days but Ash is branded with a massive full sleeve like brand. Over time the dragons will manifest to their breeders. The issue for Ash is that his has not appeared yet while everyone else at the academy has their dragon. This makes Ash “The Problem Child”, he can control other dragons but doesn’t have one of his own. Continue readingby
In season 1 of To LOVE Ru, Rito met Lala and had many adventures and fights to defend her. In season 2 we were introduced to Lala’s sisters, Momo and Nana who were the main focus of that season with Lala taking a minor role. Season 3 brought some changes to the series that I’m not sure were positive. You went from the highly energetic Lala to Lala’s trouble making sisters to the most stoic character with Lala waaaaaaaaaaay in the background.
Being that it’s subtitled Darkness, yes it’s mostly about the ‘Golden Darkness’. Continue readingby
