After Rolling Girls I thought that all shows with girls and motorcycles would be hot garbage. Well Bakuon!! is here to try to steer it back in the right direction.

Bakoun!! is about a group of high school girls who became interested in motorcycles. Sakura Hane is a cheery airhead who is always climbing the hill with her bike until one day she meets Onsa Amano who’s riding a motorcycle. Sakura becomes an instant fan and her and Onsa join the motorcycle club at school. The show goes through the girls learning to ride, maintain and enjoy motorcycles. Follow along on their adventures. Custom Maid!

Published by:

Custom Maid is about a high school otaku who is “in the closet” about her obsession. The twist is she is from a rich family so she couldn’t show her love of anime/manga and all the culture even if she wanted to. Yuu even keeps her distance from her maids until she ends up being found out by her new maid Masaki. What she doesn’t know is that Masaki is actually one of her favorite doujinshi artists.

Custom Maid was one of the Best New 4-koma manga series of 2015 so someone out there likes it. This is one I’ll keep an eye on. For some reason I always find clueless rich people trying to be normal, to be funny.

Girl Meets Bear (Kumamiko)

Published by:

I was not planning to watch this show but one day I was sitting at home and caught up on all my shows for the season so I decided to see what this was about.

Would you think a bear would know about the outside world? Well Machi does. Machi is a young shrine maiden who has lived her whole life in the mountains and knows nothing about the city except that she wants to go to school there and some day be a part of it. For her knowledge of the city, she relies on Natsu, her talking guardian bear who has been with her since she was a baby. Natsu does have some knowledge and can even use technology. Can Machi survive Natsu’s city tests to see if she deserves a chance to go to school in the city? Continue reading

Komori Can’t Decline (Manga)

Published by:

A lot of you will be familiar with Shuri from her anime this past season. It was a short show at only about 2 minutes but it was a good introduction to Shuri and her friends. You’ll see that the anime came directly from the source material. Since it’s a 4koma, they extend situations to fit on the big screen but sometimes it was like watching the show again.

Shuri is a junior high school girl who can’t refuse any request no matter what it is. You wouldn’t be able to tell she’s young since she’s well developed compared to the others, she looks more like a teacher than their friend. But she is an innocent girl who just likes helping people. If anyone needs something, they go to Shuri. It works in another way too. If someone says they want her to pass a test, one she’s normally have issues with, then she’ll do it. Continue reading

K-On!! (Keion!!)

Published by:

I watched the first one so definitely had to watch the second. I’m a guy who tries to watch everything in it’s entirety plus it’s a Kyoto show. I like the way that Kyoto works from their employment tactics to the end product. Not many animation studios are like them and if I’m lucky enough to get my manga turned into an anime, they’re at the top of the wishlist. Anyway….

But ‘Switch, isn’t it just more cute girls being cute? Partially, yes. K-On’s premise is based on the light music club forming, getting people to join, etc. It’s not different from any other slice of life , school show really. The humor is not of the outrageous Seitokai Yakuindomo type, it’s more light humor and the girls personalities. Continue reading

Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon

Published by:

Guess I’m going to read more of Cool’s manga before I get back to writing my own. Who can resist a title with ‘maid dragon’ in it? In the closing of the first chapter, Cool actually tells the story of how this manga came about. I won’t spoil it for you though.

I’m sure you’ve heard the age old story of a woman getting drunk off her ass and climbing a mountain to find a dragon, right? Well that’s how Kobayashi and Tooru meet. I don’t know how many people climb mountain after getting drunk but Kobayashi did and there she meets Tooru in dragon form, I guess because she was drunk, she wasn’t scared. Not realizing what she said when she was drunk, she invited Tooru to live with her. Continue reading

Ojojojo

Published by:

Ojojojo is one that I found by mistake but I’m glad I did. It’s a short 4koma which may or may not get a few more chapters. The mangaka who created it said he was only going to do 1 chapter but was convinced to make another. Just like an anime there are issues in the 2nd part.

The characters aren’t THAT different from other anime or manga but they will grasp you. You have two socially awkward characters, a tall, rich, tsundere who has problems making friends because her poor attitude and a quiet misfit outcast who, over time start to understand more about each other and become friends. The 2nd chapter introduces Continue reading

Komori-san Can’t Decline (Komori-san wa Kotowarenai!)

Published by:

Komori-san Can’t Decline is another in the line of short anime. Each episode is only 2 minutes and they actually have time to fit a song in there too so it’s run time ends up being like 90 seconds. If you add up everything it’s about 18 minutes, so less than one anime episode.

The show revolves around Shuri who can’t decline any request. Shuri is like a giantess compared to the others and well developed too. She’s supposed to be 14 or 15 and makes the other kids look like they’re 7 or something. She has 2 friends who are always needing something or getting her to help and she always has a “yes” attitude. Halfway through the season they add in Kurou who is probably the most developed of the characters. He wants to be depended on like Shuri and at one point she passes a “job” to him to try to help him.
