The Case of Hana and Alice is a prequel to the Hana and Alice live action movie. Alice transfers into a new school and from the very beginning she has problems. She’s put at the desk of someone who is presumed dead and that the rest of the class believes is cursed.
While cleaning one day, Alice notices markings on the floor and tries to get answers from people in class but they ignore her. Until one day she is harassed by a classmate and she gives him a beatdown to get answers. The answers lead her back to a recluse who lives next to her and this recluse is Hana, a person who knows a bit about the answers that Alice seeks.
The biggest issue with this movie is probably the style of art. Rotoscoping, which is a style where the art is basically traced from live action, going frame by frame. It can and does look choppy so it gives it an unfinished feeling. If you’ve seen flash animations then you probably have seen something in the same style. It doesn’t take away from the plot or anything but I did have to check my TV once or twice to make sure it was the movie and not my internet connection.
I can’t say that I enjoyed this movie in any way. It’s slow paced and when you get to the conclusion you’re left wondering why you sat through 2 hours for it. At least that’s the way I felt about it. Maybe you had a different opinion? Let me know in the comments. I know some people really love this one but it’s not for me and you know I like mystery type shows so….
