Masque of the Wolf (Ookami Kakushi)

When you’re a kid, moving to a new place can be daunting, right? Have to make new friends, learn new streets and all that. But what if you moved to a town where everyone was trying to be friendly to you and for what seems like no apparent reason.

That’s what happened to a 15-year-old boy named Hiroshi Kuzumi. He moved into a new town with his father and his sister. This new town has some dark secrets which Hiroshi will unfortunately come face to face with. This town is actually separated into 2 sides, the newer side which he lives on and the old side which he has received several warnings about not going there. Everything seems to be going well in this new town at first, everyone is friendly and teaching his about the customs and traditions.

As things move forward, Hiroshi starts to see things that he has questions about. In school, some of his classmates just mysteriously “move away” without any notice, or they “transfer schools”. The locals just act as if they don’t know what happens so of course Hiroshi wants to know what’s going on. It’s not very long before he’s drawn into the mysteries of the town.

It has all the elements of a good mystery show but they drop the ball here. The plot becomes very very predictable though that hasn’t hurt some mystery shows in the past. Here they just didn’t do a very good job of hiding what’s coming. I started the show and was into it at the beginning but it just became way too predictable, not everything but some things were too easy to spot. It’s still a nice show but they really gave up the goods too early if you ask me. Or maybe I just watch too many mysteries and can spot how things are going to shape up.
