Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers. I can’t believe I almost passed on this show because the name. I didn’t know anything about it until I watched the first episode. Braves of the Six Flowers doesn’t exactly sound like a fantasy adventure show but it really is. There is actually a meaning behind the name though.
The premise of the show is actually pretty simple though the show doesn’t make it seem that way. When the Majin wakes up from the depths of darkness, a deity of fate selects six heroes and gives them the power to save the world. A kid named Adlet who proclaims that he’s the strongest man in the world has been selected and he starts on a quest to get the six together. The problem with that is that there are more than six and they have to find out who the imposter is.
The character types aren’t too much different from other fantasy shows except in their personalities. I think that’s what sets them apart from being just another fantasy show. Plus add in the fact that there is a lot of in-fighting where someone might die, instead of dying while facing an enemy.
There isn’t anything production-wise on this show that I didn’t like. The music was very fitting for the show, I never even skipped past it like I do on many shows. The art and design was very good. They put a lot of time and effort into the character designs. Everything seemed clean and crisp. They never veered off the plot but it’s kind of hard to when they’re all trapped in one location. Everything in the show just ties together so well.
This and Gangsta are my top picks for this summer. I only have one issue with it and that’s the finale. It made me want more and you probably will too when you see it. But the show is quality and definitely something I’d recommend to someone.
