Ōkami-san & Her Seven Companions (Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakama-tachi)

Okami-san and Her Seven Companions parodies a few fairy tales like Little Red Riding Hood, The Ant and the Grasshopper and a few others. Ryoko Okami is a girl who is very much a tsundere and very tomboyush, her partner in crime is Akai Ringo aka Little Red Riding Hood. They’re members of a ‘trading’ club known as the Otogi High School Bank. The fix issues for their clients, who happen to be students and in exchange they rely on those students for help later. So it’s basically trading their help for a favor and no matter when, the bank has to be paid back.

The show doesn’t have too much in the way of character development but it does give a bit of background on them. They all have unique personalities in some ways but bland in others. Besides the main characters, the others don’t really get much airtime. It is a romantic comedy on top of everything else which could explain that since those characters will need time to form their relationship.

The art in the show is okay but nothing to write home about. The music does fit the show pretty good but it’s just ‘okay’. I can’t think of anything in this show that stands out and makes it meorable except maybe the twist on the fairy tale characters like the conniving Little Red Riding Hood who is always scheming.

It’s a decent little show. I don’t know if I’d recommend it to anyone unless it was their type of show. It has it’s moments and I think there was potential for more but it is what it is.
