Blood Lad is one that I’ve been wanting to see for a while. No there wasn’t any special reason but the name was drawing me in. These days vampires are all sparkly and this one wasn’t so I thought I should check it out.
The show is about a slacker demon Staz who happens to be the head of one of the Demon World sections. He’s a closet otaku and keeps it from everyone but then one day a girl from he Human World ends up in his territory. This girl is the catalyst for the whole show. Without going into too much plot detail, this show is somewhat of a quest type show. You don’t have to wait long to get to the plot of the show, it’s laid out in the first episode.
The characters in the show aren’t the greatest characters. As a matter of fact, a lot of them are stupid and/or slackers. Demon World life must be easy. They work well together though. The show kind of reminds me of Soul Eater or Devil is a Part Timer.
Blood Lad is only 10 episodes so don’t blink or you’ll miss it. It’s a shame the show is only 10 episodes so a lot gets left out. It seems like they planned for a second season but so far nothing has been mentioned that I know of. The show is based on a lot of gag humor with most of it based on the stupidity of the characters. It’s good for a few laughs. I wouldn’t drop everything to see it but it’s one that can go on your list if you need a silly comedy show.
