This fall’s lineup does not look very good. Maybe there will be some hidden gems but doesn’t look good. My list is almost watch/don’t watch with very few maybes in between.
Gundam – Yes. Watching. Yes. Greenlit for 25 episodes. Yes.
Comet Lucifer – More mecha, more yes. This was the first show I watched and it caught my attention right away. Yes.
Diabloik Lovers More, Blood. Didn’t watch the first series. Seems to be 15 minute episodes. Haven’t watched the first season. Didn’t catch my interest, tired of sparkling vampires. [Update] I watched an episode and just can’t do it. They call the girl a sow, bitch and whatever else. Just bleh…
Lances N Masques. eh… so far it’s a “knight” protecting a privileged little girl who isn’t very likable. It’s one of those “it’s okay but I’m not attached to it” things.
Young Black Jack. I didn’t watch the previous series but I watched the first 2 episodes of this and not liking it so far. It’s a prequel story of him as a medical student.
Hacka Doll the Animation (short show) – Have not watched.
Miss Monochrome the Animation 3 (short show) – Have not watched.
Kagewani (short show) – A mystery show that I’m passing on. Will probably watch it later since it’s a short 7 minute show. Monsters that come out and attack people while a scientist is searching for the truth. It’s just not keeping my attention.
Heavy Object – Mecha show which is greenlit for 24 episodes. Seems to be centered around 2 Object techs and a specific pilot who looks down on the techs (princess attitude). Usual trying to get her to see their way of life or however you want to put it. Like the show so far.
K: Return of Kings – first episode was action on top of action and a lot of flash while the second episode was more of a history type thing. The show looks like it’ll be a mix of both. I need to rewatch the first season, I stopped somewhere in the middle.
Neko Nanka Yondemo Konai (short show) – Haven’t watched it yet. Wasn’t planning to but will watch to give an opinion.
Fushigi na Somera-chan (short show) This show reminds me of Teekyuu. 3 minute episodes of randomness. Not sure what to think yet but the first episode was blah.
Tantei Team KZ Jiken Note (short show) – A girl with no friends gets thrown into the mix with a soccer team and from there they start solving mysteries. They’re in 6th grade so don’t expect big mysteries. The first one is a missing bike. Will see where it goes next episode before deciding.
Noragami Aragoto – Watched the 2 episodes so far and like what I see. Liked the first season and hoping this season isn’t an abortion.
Soukyuu no Fafner: Dead Aggressor – Exodus 2nd Season – Haven’t watched the first season so…not sure if I’m lost or the first episode was boring. Will have to go back and watch.
Mini Vanguard 2nd Season – Have not watched yet and didn’t see the first season.
Itoshi no Muco (short show) – Not planning to watch
Gakusen Toshi Asterisk – Fantasy show where students go to a school where they use magic and study to fight, blah blah blah. Main guy is paired with a princess who is unlikable like most of these shows. Like it so far.
Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry – Fantasy show where students go to a school (why does that sound familiar)…the main character is failing in school because he has no magic ability and is paired with a princess who actually becomes kind of likable quickly unlike the other shows where it takes a long time to warm up to the princess character.
Ironically Asterisk and Cavalry start out with similar first episodes. The guy walks in on the main girl while she’s dressing and she wants to lay the smackdown. I like Cavalry better than Asterisk but we’ll see where the shows go.
Kowabon (short show) – rotoscoped horror show where the episodes which feel like The Ring. Not really liking this one. Probably dropping it completely.
Owarimonogatari – The Bakemonogatari series is back for another 12 episode run. They just announced 3 movies too so while the series may be coming to an end, there is still more to come. Same occult, supernatural stuff with the very artistic backgrounds and art. So far it has the same feel of the other series.
Komori-san Can’t Decline (short show) – She’s in Junior High but 15, I think they screwed up there or she got left back because she is taller and more “developed” than the others. Basically she can’t decline any request and somehow this gives her strength. They don’t do much in the 2 minute episodes. I’ll probably just watch because it’s 2 minutes.
Concrete Revolutio – This show seems like it’s Charlotte all over again. Though Charlotte has an anti-hero and this show is more hero-hero. Charlotte felt more mature and no cutesy character included unless you count the little sister. This show has robots, cutesy chracters and a lot of pink but the same premise of protecting humans with supernatural powers. It’s like a Charlotte premise with the bright colors of Gatchaman. Unsure on this show, may end up dropping it to marathon it at the end of the season.
World Trigger: Fugitives – Not sure what the hell is going on there. It was slated as 50 episodes last year and then a new story that’s not in the books. Well episode 48 seemed to be the end of the original show and 49 looks like the new beginning. Not sure how many episodes in this run but this show may end up being a long run show like Dragon Ball, Fairy Tail, One Piece and all the others if they keep up this pace. That really made several episodes feel like filler but still like the show and still watching. Maybe there will be World Trigger Kai.
By the way…holy mother of yuri. Valkyrie Drive…that first episode made Cross Ange look tame. Most ecchi starts off with some big thing in the first episode then phases it out but this show probably won’t completely get away from it because it’s part of the partner interaction. If you’ve seen Freezing or one of the other shows where they are paired in teams then you will get the premise of the partnerships but here it’s all female and daaaaaaaaaaaamn. Holy shit is all I can say. I had no clue what the show was about before watching it, I try to avoid previews and all that.
Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo Returns (2015) – Didn’t watch the first series and questionable here. May watch the first episode then go back and watch it if I decide I like it.
Utawarerumono: Itsuwari no Kamen – Seems okay. I’m rewatching the first series. Both start off the same way. Female cat like creature finds a guy who lost his memory and the guy pulls her tail to see if it’s real. Guy has to find work to earn his keep, etc. One of those shows you watch if you’re into the supernatural side of things with war and action mixed in because the rich are trying to slaughter the poor. This will run 25 episodes like the first series. If you’re a fan of shows like Arslan then you’d probably like this.
Ore ga Ojou-sama Gakkou ni “Shomin Sample” Toshite Gets♥Sareta Ken – Just call it Sample Commoner. A boy is kidnapped from school and brought to a castle where he is to be a “sample” of a commoner for the girls who have not seen the outside world. A “friend” gives false info so that he is the one taken and if he goes back on what she said then he risks getting castrated. So basically he has to act like a gay unic, not flambouyant gay, just no interest in girls and has to pretend he likes muscleheads. So far, it’s okay.
Dance with Devils – Not planning to watch. Has a Diabolik feel to me and that’s just no…
Taimadou Gakuen 35 Shiken Shoutai – Seems to be set in a world where magic is dying out. There’s military, smugglers and other random thugs. A group thrown together randomly has to fight them. So far I like the show but after 1 episode that can change quickly.
Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru – Another mystery show with no episode list yet. Assuming 12 or 13. Seems weird so far. Not bad but nothing to say “I need to keep watching. Not yet anyway. There’s a woman who’s 20 something and has no connection with people, she even calls her friend? sub-ordinate? lacky? “boy”. Not sure what he truly is to her yet. She’s more interested in skeletons than people.
Perfect Insider – Another mystery show. At least this season has a few of them and hopefully they don’t turn into Ranpo Kitan. Again, just seems odd so far. Waiting for the 2nd episode to see where they’re going with it. Looks like they may be solving the case of a serial killer.
Aria Sequel – Not sure what I think yet. Now a clumsy girl wants to be a butei and be Aria’s sidekick. At least in the first series it was a capable guy and the friend but now this girl…
Seraph of the End Sequel – Saw the dub so waiting on the dub. Hate getting used to one then switching. Hopefully they build off where the original 12 ended…ok ok ok, I couldn’t resist and watched the first subbed episode. Dammit. Like where they’re going with it.
Testament of Sister New Devil BURST – If you saw the first series then you know what to expect. Lot of fighting sequences but also a lot of ecchiness…over the top ecchiness. I don’t even want to know what the show looks like uncensored.
Anitore! EX – Girls doing exercise routines? Not aired yet but I think that is the whole premise of the show. [Update] Did watch the first episode and it’s a short show with a young girl doing exercises. Like 12 or something so it’s a show for lolicons if you ask me. Not going to watch that again.
Doushitemo Eto ni Hairitai – No interest.
Yuru Yuri 3 – Probably just more cute girls doing cute girl things with yuri undertones. Doubt they’re going to change the formula now. The first two seasons were solid for what it is.
Brave Beats – Not a fan of the music shows.
Cardfight!! Vanguard G: Gears Crisis-hen – Didn’t watch first season, not interested in this one either.
Ketsuekigata-kun! 3rd Season – Not aired yet. Something about blood types?
Shin Atashinchi – Nope
DD Hokuto no Ken 2: Ichigo Aji+ – Fist of the North Star parody? Haven’t watched. May take a glance later.
Osomatsu-san – Don’t know, don’t care enough to know.
JK-Meshi! (short show) – Damn there’s a lot of short ones this season. Seems like some type of flash type animation. Nothing special in the first episode. Looks like it’s girls eating like Gourmet Girl Graffiti. Supposed to show recipes or something too.
High School Star Musical – Not a music show guy
One Punch Man – Just seemed bad to me. Will watch 2nd episode and see. [Update] Yeah still seems stupid to me. Probably not watching unless I have nothing to watch.
Ameiro Cocoa: Rainy Color e Youkoso! – Just don’t know if I will watch or not. Maybe I will just to say “this show sucks” or “best thing sincce sliced bread”. Who knows.
Haikyuu!! Second Season – Saw the first episode. Will go back and watch the first season since I stopped midway.
Peeping Life TV: Season 1?? – Does not seem like a show I’d watch.
Shingeki! Kyojin Chuugakkou – Attack on Titan…IN SCHOOL!??!?! They are milking that cow dry before the second season.
Lupin 3 – I never had an interest in Lupin so I’m bypassing it. May be good, may not. Maybe some day in the future.
Kyoufu! Zombie Neko – No interest. Looks ridiculous like Umaru and I won’t make that mistake again.
Teekyuu 6 – It’s Teekyuu. 3 minutes of zaniness every week.
Is This Order a Rabbit? Sequel – More moe girls doing moe things I would assume, just like the first series. Didn’t actually watch the new episode. [Update] Yeah it’s the same as the first. Moe moe moe all over the place.
