Ojojojo

Published by:

Ojojojo is one that I found by mistake but I’m glad I did. It’s a short 4koma which may or may not get a few more chapters. The mangaka who created it said he was only going to do 1 chapter but was convinced to make another. Just like an anime there are issues in the 2nd part.

The characters aren’t THAT different from other anime or manga but they will grasp you. You have two socially awkward characters, a tall, rich, tsundere who has problems making friends because her poor attitude and a quiet misfit outcast who, over time start to understand more about each other and become friends. The 2nd chapter introduces Continue reading

What is Cupid’s Chocolate?

Published by:

Cupid’s Chocolate is a show out of China. I discovered it while cruising sites, looking for animation houses in countries other than Japan. I’ve been doing research so that I know costs in the future if I can take my manga further than a book. Better to know what you’re in for ahead of time than to wait for the last minute. Yes, if it comes down to it, I’ll do it myself…somehow.

Anyway, this show was one I expected very little from since you always hear that stuff out of China is not high quality. Well the quality on this one is actually pretty damned good. It’s about a high school boy who unknowingly shared “Cupid’s Chocolate” with a few girls at his school. What he didn’t know is that the chocolate will make them all think they’re in love with him. The show actually takes place after the chocolate so you don’t get to see that part. Now he has a harem of girls who all think they love him because the effects of the chocolate. His actions can break the curse or cause the curse to manifest even stronger. It’s a typical harem really but you get time spent on each character for development.

The show runs about 12 minutes an episode and they’re up to episode 12 now. Not sure how long the show runs but they’re going past 12 for sure. Check it out if you can find it.

My Winter 2016 Anime Watchlist

Published by:

You’re probably wondering why I didn’t do a preview or anything. Well I had this month long job where I had to be out of the house 15+ hours a day. Try doing that for a month straight with no breaks, it’s a backbreaker. So I didn’t want to write anything at all. Hell, this blog was bare for a while right? Still didn’t finish posting stuff from last season. At least I can do a midway post.

Let’s start with my favorites from this season, Erased, Phantom World and Dimension W.

Erased (Boku Dake Ga Inai Machi) – It has time travel so of course I jumped in. The main character, Satoru, has the power to jump through time, one that he doesn’t realize he has until he jumps back several years. So Satoru tries to fix the things in the past that took some very important people from him.

Dimension W – This one will become the first broadcast dub to air on US TV since it’s going to be on Toonami as soon as Akame Ga Kill ends this week. In 2036, a 4th dimension is discovered and with it comes renewable energy. The energy is harvested into these reactors known as coils. Fast Forward to 2071 and a huge conglomerate New Tesla Energy corners the market which leads to illegal coils being made. This is here Kyoma comes in, he’s a “collector”. Collectors are out to collect illegal coils but he’s a throwback, he’s a progress hating loner who wants nothing to do with coils. One day he comes across Mira who an android powered by coils and the 2 end up becoming partners much to Kyoma’s dismay. I hope they don’t turn Mira into pervert bait. This one has a Cowboy Bebop feel to it if you ask me. Needs more than 12 episodes. I think I just wrote my preview/review for this already, just need to add some sauce and let it simmer.

Phantom World (Musaigen no Phantom World) – It’s from Kyoto so of course the quality is there. In a world where phantoms are now walking around freely, there are students tasked with getting rid of them or putting them at peace. The main character Haruhiko actually has a genie looking phantom who is always with him. Along with Mai (Seems to be this season’s hot girl), Reina, Koito, and Kurumi, Haruhiko and the girls find ways to make sure the phantoms are at peace. Wish I was a teenager in Japan if they fight phantoms, fly, ride in mechs and all that other stuff. Continue reading

Komori-san Can’t Decline (Komori-san wa Kotowarenai!)

Published by:

Komori-san Can’t Decline is another in the line of short anime. Each episode is only 2 minutes and they actually have time to fit a song in there too so it’s run time ends up being like 90 seconds. If you add up everything it’s about 18 minutes, so less than one anime episode.

The show revolves around Shuri who can’t decline any request. Shuri is like a giantess compared to the others and well developed too. She’s supposed to be 14 or 15 and makes the other kids look like they’re 7 or something. She has 2 friends who are always needing something or getting her to help and she always has a “yes” attitude. Halfway through the season they add in Kurou who is probably the most developed of the characters. He wants to be depended on like Shuri and at one point she passes a “job” to him to try to help him. Strain: Strategic Armored Infantry (Soukou no Strain)

Published by:

Strain: Strategic Armored Infantry is a more mecha and less filler except for one episode.

In the distant future, mankind is divided into 2 factions called Union and Deague. Both have military might, the Union uses manned crafts known as Strain and the Deague use unmanned Tumors. Ralph Werec who was 16 at the time, left his little sister behind to become a Union pilot. He said his final farewell since he was going on a mission that would take him 130 light years away. Sara who just wanted to be with her brother, vowed t become a pilot too and find him some day. Years later, Sara became a pilot and ended up in a fight with a Deague assault force. During this assault Sara learned that the leader of this assault is her brother Ralph. In order to find out why he turned his back on the Union and figure out what he’s after, she goes after him through even means necessary, even after losing her Strain (you only get one so if you lose it then you’re done). Is This Order a Rabbit?? (Gochūmon wa Usagi Desu ka??) [Season 2]

Published by:

What do you get when you add sugar to sugar and mix in some sugar? Is This Order a Rabbit Season 2. I’m not going to drag this one out. It’s cute girls being cute with the added bonus of Cocoa’s goofy older sister and Chino’s friends. This show has great visuals as usual and everything around it is as tight as the first season, if not better. But again, if you’re not into these shows then you might want to stay far far away. If diabetes runs in your family then be careful. You may want to check out the first season on this one before watching if you do plan to watch this.

The Perfect Insider (Subete ga F ni Naru)

Published by:

I always have high hopes when a mystery show comes along but Ranpo Kitan from last year left me wondering if anyone can pull it off anymore. Along comes The Perfect Insider which is adapted from a 1996 novel. It’s already been made into a manga, a visual novel and a drama so why not kick the tires on an anime right?

There is a very simple premise here. Sohei Saikawa, an associate professor of architectural engineering and Moe Nishinosono who is the daughter of his mentor, travel to a remote island to meet an artificial intelligence researcher named Shiki Magata. Shiki was accused of killing her parents but was found innocent because of her mental state at the time. After this incident Shiki locked herself away on this remote island to do her research. When Sohei and Moe get to the island, they meet Shiki Magata but not in the way they expected. When they see her, she is just a torso with her appendages on a dining cart. Since Sohei is a big fan of hers and Moe is the one Shiki was talking to before the trip, they decide that it’s up to them to solve the murder. Continue reading

Yuru Yuri San Hai (Season 3)

Published by:

Yuru Yuri’s 3rd season is really just more of the same. Cute girls doing cute things. The studio may have changed but the show is close to the same. This new studio kept the same quality of art, etc but they seemed to go with less humor and more ai. The relationships seemed to get closer but not full on making out or anything. Just girls and girls being girls together. I don’t want to go into a full on review/preview on this because there really is nothing to add. If you like the first 2 seasons then you’ll like this one too. If it’s not your thing then stay far far away, the sugary sweetness will make your teeth rot.

Seraph of the End: Battle in Nagoya (Owari no Seraph: Nagoya Kessen-hen)

Published by:

Seraph of the End: Battle in Nagoya is the second season of Seraph of the End. Not too much changes here as it’s a continuation from the first season. A direct continuation.

If you remember the first season, the vampires came hard and fast after the Moon Demon Company but this time they’re bringing to war to the vampire’s doorstep. It’s pretty much a number of flashbacks, battles and more battles with some infighting too. There are also a lot of intersecting storylines with different people with different agendas so there is a bit of intrigue.

While I did like this season, it failed in several categories. Continue reading

The Testament of Sister New Devil BURST

Published by:

Testament of Sister New Devil BURST is the 2nd season of Testament of Sister New Devil. It’s just as raunchy, ecchi and obscene as the first but truncated into 10 episodes.

Everything that transpired in the first season seems to have died down and life is back to “normal”. As normal as it can be when you live with a succubus and the devil’s daughter. While perparing for a sports event at school, Basara and the others are attacked by magic wielding humans. Due to the strength of this attack, Basara wants to become stronger so he can protect his new family from this new threat. Rukia, Maria’s sister, appears and leads Basara and the girls to the demon realm where a new battle for control has begun. Continue reading
