Monster List (Yaoguai Mingdan)

Published by:

Monster List is an anime out of China. It’s in the same format as Cupid’s Chocolate where every episode is about 12 minutes. I assume that’s a thing for them. I have not done much research into China’s anime scene.

A foxy tempress, a tree demon, a girl with goddess powers and one guy in between them. Feng Xi would be the unwitting hero of this story. Drawn into situation after situation with these girls, he learns to adjust to his new life. One where he must preserve the peace and seemingly save the world at the same time. Continue reading

Big Order (Biggu Ōdā)

Published by:

Big Order was the first of the Spring 2016 season to end since it was only 10 episodes. At least the action kept moving so it wasn’t a show like Grimgar which seemed like it was going nowhere for the whole season.

The show is about a boy named Eiji who is blamed for the world destruction of the world 10 years earlier. Since Eiji is blamed for everything that has happened, everyone seems to be against him except his sister. Eiji has to try to survive in a world that wants him dead. Along the way he has to fight to stay alive and also keep his sister safe. Continue reading

Soul Eater (Sōru Ītā)

Published by:

Soul Eater is one that I kept pushing back for some reason. Not sure why since I’ve been on the lookout for longer animes. I am so tired of the 12-13 episode crap of recent times.

The show takes place at Death Weapon Meister Academy. The main characters are 3 students who are weapon meisters and they’re paired with weapons who can transform into humans with their own personalities. Their goal is to make their weapons into Death Scythes who are suitable to serve the headmaster. That headmaster is Death. To do this they must collect 99 souls and a witch in that order or they have to start over. Continue reading

Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya

Published by:

Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya is a spinoff of Fate/Stay Night.  Fate/Stay Night was more of a fantasy battle type show but this one involves magical girls with the fantasy aspect mixed in since there is a lot of carryover from the original show. Illyasviel von Einzbern from the original series is here as the protagonist, living her life as a schoolgirl.

The 1st season of the show starts off with Ilya being given magical girl powers. Alone with her “mentor” Rin from the first series, she must learn what being a magical girl is about. She goes through the ups and downs of getting awesome and not knowing how to control it. The show has a lot of her school life mixed in too so it’s not ALL action but there is a decent amount of it. Seraph of the End: Battle in Nagoya (Owari no Seraph: Nagoya Kessen-hen)

Published by:

Seraph of the End: Battle in Nagoya is the second season of Seraph of the End. Not too much changes here as it’s a continuation from the first season. A direct continuation.

If you remember the first season, the vampires came hard and fast after the Moon Demon Company but this time they’re bringing to war to the vampire’s doorstep. It’s pretty much a number of flashbacks, battles and more battles with some infighting too. There are also a lot of intersecting storylines with different people with different agendas so there is a bit of intrigue.

While I did like this season, it failed in several categories. Continue reading

The Testament of Sister New Devil BURST

Published by:

Testament of Sister New Devil BURST is the 2nd season of Testament of Sister New Devil. It’s just as raunchy, ecchi and obscene as the first but truncated into 10 episodes.

Everything that transpired in the first season seems to have died down and life is back to “normal”. As normal as it can be when you live with a succubus and the devil’s daughter. While perparing for a sports event at school, Basara and the others are attacked by magic wielding humans. Due to the strength of this attack, Basara wants to become stronger so he can protect his new family from this new threat. Rukia, Maria’s sister, appears and leads Basara and the girls to the demon realm where a new battle for control has begun. Continue reading

Dimension W Broadcast Dub Version Going Straight to Toonami

Published by:

I’m sure some of you have been waiting for the Dimension W dub version. Well guess what? It’s going straight to Toonami. This is a first for broadcast dubs to air while the show is still on in Japan. It won’t even be available on Funimation.com until 2 weeks after it airs. I guess you can say Space Dandy may be a first since it was shown dubbed and subbed at the same time but it was before Funimation started doing broadcast dubs. Funimation is on the production committee for the show and it seems like they went in big time on Dimension W. I like the show and hope it gets more than a 12 episode run because so far it looks like something that needs more than 12 to tell the story.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin

Published by:

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin is an origin story of the Red Comet. It delves into the past of Casval Rem Deikun and Artesia Som Deikun. It goes from their childhood to the time that Casval leaves to later become the Red Comet. For those trying to keep up with the Gundam universe, it takes place before the One Year War.

Don’t pick this one up for action scenes. There are a few and the usual explosions and people dying but it’s more of the backstory part of their journey through their turbulent lives. It can be slow at times but it can’t all be action 100% of the time. You get to watch Casval and Artesia grow up while trying to survive the usual political issues that occur in Gundam series.
