Arata Kasuga is “cursed” with something known as the Collapse Phenomenon which has the capability of destroying the world and there are people after him for this power. Some want to be able to abuse him power and there are others who want to kill him so this power doesn’t fall in the wrong hands. The ones looking to kill him are the girls of Biblia Academy. The girls each have their own powers based on the seven deadly sins so they are definitely capable of taking him out. What Arata doesn’t know is that the girls of the Academy may be his only hope of understanding the phenomenon and saving his cousin who seems to have disappeared because of it. Continue readingby
Here’s one I went way back for. Well not THAT far back but this is one that most people seem to have ignored. At least the people I know of anyway.
The show is based around a concept of “Shikabane Hime” which is after being murdered, some people come back with the goal of killing 108 regular shikabane to earn entry into heaven. Aiding the Shikabane Hime is a contracted monk. They have to have a contracted monk or they become ordinary shikabane which is basically a zombie that’s out of control for one reason or another. Makina is one such Shikabane Hime with the goal of avenging her family who was killed by a group known as the Seven Stars. Continue readingby
World Trigger was a show I got into because I was being bombarded with ads from Crunchyroll. At first I didn’t want to want the show because the “enemy” were called neighbors. Which seemed absolutely ridiculous at the time but those ads were relentless so I had to check it out. Another thing that got my attention was that the show was greenlit for 50 episodes and I’m tired of shows only getting 12 episodes to try to tell a story. Most shows end up rushed or unfinished due to the lack of enough episodes.
Brief synopsis: Mikado City is where the events of World Trigger take place. One day a gate to another world opens and these monsters known as ‘neighbors’ come through the gate. Of course everyone is afraid of them, especially since Earth weapons have no affect on them. Then a mysterious group known as Border enters the scene to fight them off. 4 1/2 years later, a new gate opens where Yuma comes to Earth. Yuma and Osamu meet at school where Yuma is adjusting to Earth life and Osamu looks like an ordinary student. Not too long after, a new gate opens and Osamu reveals he’s a Border trainee and tries to fight off the ‘neighbor’ but it’s too strong for him so Yuma joins the fray. This is only the beginning, trust me. Continue readingby
Monster List is an anime out of China. It’s in the same format as Cupid’s Chocolate where every episode is about 12 minutes. I assume that’s a thing for them. I have not done much research into China’s anime scene.
A foxy tempress, a tree demon, a girl with goddess powers and one guy in between them. Feng Xi would be the unwitting hero of this story. Drawn into situation after situation with these girls, he learns to adjust to his new life. One where he must preserve the peace and seemingly save the world at the same time. Continue readingby
Big Order was the first of the Spring 2016 season to end since it was only 10 episodes. At least the action kept moving so it wasn’t a show like Grimgar which seemed like it was going nowhere for the whole season.
The show is about a boy named Eiji who is blamed for the world destruction of the world 10 years earlier. Since Eiji is blamed for everything that has happened, everyone seems to be against him except his sister. Eiji has to try to survive in a world that wants him dead. Along the way he has to fight to stay alive and also keep his sister safe. Continue readingby
Soul Eater is one that I kept pushing back for some reason. Not sure why since I’ve been on the lookout for longer animes. I am so tired of the 12-13 episode crap of recent times.
The show takes place at Death Weapon Meister Academy. The main characters are 3 students who are weapon meisters and they’re paired with weapons who can transform into humans with their own personalities. Their goal is to make their weapons into Death Scythes who are suitable to serve the headmaster. That headmaster is Death. To do this they must collect 99 souls and a witch in that order or they have to start over. Continue readingby
Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya is a spinoff of Fate/Stay Night. Fate/Stay Night was more of a fantasy battle type show but this one involves magical girls with the fantasy aspect mixed in since there is a lot of carryover from the original show. Illyasviel von Einzbern from the original series is here as the protagonist, living her life as a schoolgirl.
The 1st season of the show starts off with Ilya being given magical girl powers. Alone with her “mentor” Rin from the first series, she must learn what being a magical girl is about. She goes through the ups and downs of getting awesome and not knowing how to control it. The show has a lot of her school life mixed in too so it’s not ALL action but there is a decent amount of it. The show is about the Japanese Ministry of Defense and their anti-paranormal special forces called the Supernatural Disaster Prevention Office. They’re tasked with protecting Japan from supernatural and paranormal events. Of course there are missions that go awry and you’re dropped right into the middle of one from the beginning of the show. Continue readingby

Seraph of the End: Battle in Nagoya is the second season of Seraph of the End. Not too much changes here as it’s a continuation from the first season. A direct continuation.
If you remember the first season, the vampires came hard and fast after the Moon Demon Company but this time they’re bringing to war to the vampire’s doorstep. It’s pretty much a number of flashbacks, battles and more battles with some infighting too. There are also a lot of intersecting storylines with different people with different agendas so there is a bit of intrigue.
While I did like this season, it failed in several categories. Continue readingby
